Swancar Farm Country House, Nottinghamshire - Anna & Dave
If you’re looking for a quaint, countryside venue with charm and character, you can’t go too far wrong with Swancar Farm Country House.
My first visit to Swancar Farm Country House was in January, for Anna & Daves wedding, while I second shot for Phoebe Sarah Photo. Some might turn their noses up at January weddings, but I am strongly pro! It’s considered even more out of season than perhaps November weddings might be, so availability with your suppliers and venues are much better (and in some cases, prices). You can’t guarantee the sun at any time of year, but should the sun be out, then it’s beautifully low all day - constant golden hour!! And personally, I’d rather run the risk of rain than run the risk of a heatwave 🥵
Anna & Dave had glorious sunshine, as you’ll see below. Swancar is set up perfectly for winter weddings in my opinion. Guests gathered pre and post ceremony in the glass barn, a beautifully light area with ample space, where the winter light shone through while keeping everyone warm and dry.
Swancar has no shortage of beautiful locations, inside and out. We walked through the reception room with it’s tall ceilings, open beams and fairy lights, through to the Orangery with large glass windows allowing that winter sun to stream through. We moved through the courtyard, towards the front of the house - a beautifully traditional looking farmhouse set among fields and a long country track. Ideal for the winter season.
