Top Derbyshire Wedding Venues
As much as I love to travel around, I can’t say I don’t have a soft spot for the rolling hills of Derbyshire. Despite many years of turning my nose up at my home town, running off to work in London for a little while had me running back, apologetically, to the place where I know own my own bricks and mortar. Go figure!
I’ve had the privilege of working at some wonderful weddings, all on my doorstep in the last 18 months and I know that I’ve hardly scratched the surface!!
If you’re thinking of getting married in Derbyshire, perhaps you love the scenery, perhaps your families come from opposite ends of the country, perhaps you’ve grown up here, then I have curated a list of some of my favourite Derbyshire wedding venues.
If you’re lucky enough to be getting married at one of these lovely venues, I can take £100 off full day wedding packages!!
West Mill Wedding Venue, Derby
One of my first weddings was at this venue, and even though I seem to frequent this place several times a year, it hasn’t seemed to have lost it’s charm on me! I love the industrial building, the windows and the views over the river. The West Mill I find to be an all season venue. Cosy and ambient in the autumn, winter months, with a south facing courtyard and the river bank soaking up the sun in the summer months.
River Mill, Derby
The West Mills younger, smaller sister, the River Mill. New on the Derbyshire scene the River Mill is your answer to a stylish, intimate wedding. The industrial style exclusive-use wedding venue sits on the riverbank of the Derwent, priding itself as a blank canvas for couples to make their own. Natural light pours into the open plan venue, making it the perfect venue for any weather, any time of year.

Grangefields
One of Cripps & Co’s newest and finest venues, the exclusive-use barn venue Grangefields in Ashbourne is situated down a long lane, offering total privacy and views stretching across the Derbyshire countryside. The grand ceremony room allows for a grand indoor ceremony while the courtyard also remains available for those preferring an outdoor ceremony too.
Dining is a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds in the Dutch Barn, with the open plan kitchen allowing guests to view the wedding breakfast being prepared over open flames.
A late license means you can stay partying on the dance floor with your guests until 12:30am.
Yeldersley Hall
The traditional English country house, Yeldersley Hall, boasted the most beautiful golden hour when I was last here. Long may it continue! The historical grounds of the hall are perfect for garden games during cocktail hour at spring and summer weddings. The heart of the Derbyshire countryside allows for plenty of exploring for relaxed couple portraits.
Swancar Farm Country House
Okay, technically not Derbyshire, if we’re being critical… but still, very close proximity to me and a stunner of a venue so I couldn’t leave it out! My first wedding at Swancar Farm Country House was a January wedding, and I thought the venue was perfect. The large conservatory offers bright, natural light with the winter golden hour landing at just the right place during the drinks reception (see photo number 3). Down a long path, the venue is well set back from the road offering privacy and views across the 250 acres of rolling countryside.
Cuttle Brook Swarkstone
For the ultimate wedding connecting the great outdoors, you may want to consider a tipi wedding at Cuttle Brook, Swarkestone, Sami Tipi’s exclusive tipi wedding site. A riverside location, I would strongly disagree that these are only for summer. Having visited the tipis myself, inside while shoulder to shoulder with guests, you will absolutely forget about the outdoor temperature. With surround views of the Derbyshire Countryside, there is nowhere for golden hour to hide while wandering the grounds for relaxed couple portraits.
