Spring wedding inspiration: The West Mill Wedding Venue, Derbyshire

Spring is within touching distance, so I had to bring this glorious spring inspired wedding at The West Mill in Derbyshire.

I was so excited to be invited to photograph the West Mill for their spring wedding inspiration photoshoot. We had a fabulous team of Derbyshire wedding suppliers, including styling by Tara Knott, and Watters wedding dress supplied by Ivory White in Duffield.

VENUE

If you don’t already know The West Mill, it is a grade ii listed former cotton mill, sitting in the heart of Derby looking over the River Derwent. A unique feature of this venue is that it is split over four floors; the top floor dedicated to your ceremony space, floor two used for the wedding breakfast, floor one for dancing and the ground floor and courtyard for arrivals and drinks reception. Each floor is so full of charm and character and as a photographer, this is such a dream in case of wet weather as we still have plenty of empty space for family portraits and couple photos!

FLOWERS

Beautiful florals on this day were provided by luxury wedding florist, Tineke Floral Designs - this bouquet was simply a work of art!! Featuring roses, peonies and the cutest little daisies, hues of purple and pale pinks, also made up into statement vase centrepieces for the tables and littered in bud vases along the top table and around the venue.

STYLING

Tara’s table styling compliments the flowers so beautifully. Rattan placemats, pale pink hand tied linen napkins and the array of pink taper candles and bud vases. Chefs kiss!! Even though I’m talking about lots of pink and purple, to me this still doesn’t feel overly feminine and barbie core, which I think is thanks to the paler tones and the introduction of materials like the rattan, linen and gold candlesticks.

DRESS

This textured Watters wedding dress supplied by Ivory White Bridal was incredible to photograph. The horsehair texture looked so beautiful against the light of the window, and was airy enough to swish around and get some movement going that is ideal for photos.

SIGNAGE & STATIONERY

Modern, bright calligraphy and signage by Polly & Me, the bold 3D lettering makes such a statement and injects even more colour into your day, with menus and place names kept timeless.
